This project at a Cala Homes development in Hamilton involved transforming a completely blank new build garden into a modern, low-maintenance outdoor living space. Like many newly built properties, the original garden lacked structure, suffered from uneven levels, and offered little practical outdoor use. The client wanted a contemporary garden design that would complement the property while creating a functional and visually impressive space for relaxing and entertaining.
To achieve this, we carried out a full redesign and installation including porcelain paving, artificial grass, raised sleeper planters, drainage works, and contemporary fencing. The overall goal was to create a clean, premium finish that would remain practical and low maintenance throughout the year while adding long-term value to the home.
The completed transformation has turned the once empty garden into a stylish and highly usable outdoor space with a clean, modern appearance throughout. The combination of Dune Sand porcelain paving, luxury artificial grass, raised timber planters, and contemporary vanishing style fencing has created a balanced layout that feels both spacious and inviting.
The large patio area now provides the perfect space for outdoor seating and entertaining, while the artificial lawn introduces year-round greenery without the need for ongoing maintenance. With carefully designed planting areas and modern fencing completing the space, the finished garden offers a high-end look that perfectly complements the Cala Homes property.
This transformation began with extensive groundwork and preparation to create the foundations for a durable, long-lasting garden installation. The entire garden was excavated and re-levelled before a new drainage system and sub-base were installed to ensure proper water management and long-term structural stability. Achieving the correct levels across the space was essential in creating the smooth and seamless finish the client was looking for.
For the main entertaining area, we installed Dune Sand porcelain paving supplied by Paving Stones Direct. The porcelain patio provides a sleek, contemporary finish while also offering excellent durability, slip resistance, and low maintenance qualities ideal for year-round use. To complement the hard landscaping, we installed Vianna artificial grass from Tuda, creating a vibrant lawn area that remains green and attractive in all seasons without the need for mowing or upkeep.
To add depth and structure to the design, raised sleeper planters were constructed around the perimeter of the garden and finished with decorative stone and low-maintenance planting. The project was completed with modern vanishing style baton fencing, providing increased privacy while tying the entire contemporary design together. The finished result is a practical, elegant, and low-maintenance outdoor space designed to be enjoyed for years to come.
